On my 2nd season of splitboarding, coming from a surfing (4x/wk, 20 yrs) and skating (15 yrs, some competitions) background. I have a Jones Solution that I've ridden these bindings with. I had the Nitro Spark vertical bindings. While those are great bindings, I sold them with another splitboard I had to help a guy out, so I didn't have any bindings. Esko at Splitboardshop.ch suggested the Union Explorers. I knew he had my back, and with Union's reputation, I got them before I even did research. When I got into them to skin the ascent, the very first step felt more stable than my previous experiences. I didn't expect that. They ARE more solid on the ascent! And it was way easier to engage the heel riser underneath the baseplate. It only has one setting, I didn't know that I had 2 settings on my spark designed bindings anyway. Having the pin and solid platform in the baseplate made a huge difference going down. The descent has become performance oriented and truly feels like a snowboard. I have tried it on piste runs and can't tell I've got a splitboard underneath my feet. I went out with 3 guys on an all day excursion in Swiss back country and A+ exp! I purchased a Jones Hovercraft 2.0 in a split instead of a regular snowboard because of the confidence these bindings gave me. The dampening underfoot is so much better than my last bindings, and better than my Union Atlas. For the last surprise, these bindings came with disks that allow you to use them on your snowboard! Woe!
